  1. In an Internet browser, open the site where you will activate Group Approval. Note that Group Approval can be activated only in a top-level site of a site collection and make sure that Contribute and Read permission levels exist.
  2. Click the Site Actions tab on the top right side of the screen. If the tab is not shown, make sure that you logged in as administrator.
  3. To go to the Site Settings page, click Site Settings . The information about the current site is displayed on the top of the screen. You may have to click Site Settings and Modify All Site Settings again according to the templates applied to sites.
  4. To go to the Site Collection Features page, under the Site Collection Administration, click Site collection features.
  5. From the listed site collection features, click Activate next to Group Approval. When Group Approval does not appear on the list, verify the language of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server which is installed. Group Approval is only available in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. To use Group Approval in other language, see Use Group Approval on non-supported langauge Microsoft Office SharePoint Server.
  6. To go to the Site Features page, go back to the Site Settings page, and click Site features under Site Administration.
  7. Click Activate next to Group Approval from the listed site features. Now, the Site Settings page displays the Group Approval Administration section.
  8.  Note    When you reactivate Group Approval, you need to add the Group Approval users again using Add User. For more details, see Create users. Group Approval Users group will be automatically created during activation and it will keep using its settings if Group Approval Users group existed. In this case, verify the settings for that group again.
